Making Sense of This Moment

A Podcast Discussion Series

We are living through a time of profound disruption.

Many of the assumptions, institutions, norms, and freedoms that people have long taken for
granted are being tested on many fronts at once, creating a sense of overwhelm, uncertainty, and
confusion.

In moments like these, it is natural to ask difficult questions:

  1. How did we get here?
  2. How do we remain grounded and connected in the midst of so much uncertainty
    and chaos?
  3. What can we do to help create something better?

Making Sense of This Moment is a three-part podcast discussion series designed to help
participants explore these questions together through selected episodes of The Power of
Partnership Podcast and facilitated group conversation.

The Journey We Are On Together

Session 1: How Did We Get Here?

Podcast episode: The Partnership Way with Dr. Riane Eisler
Together, we will explore the larger patterns that shape our families, communities, organizations, and society—and how those patterns help explain why so many of today's challenges are connected. The featured podcast episode is a conversation with Dr. Riane Eisler, social systems scientist, cultural historian, attorney, and author of The Chalice and the Blade, The Real Wealth of Nations, and Nurturing Our Humanity, whose work provides the foundation for this podcast discussion series.

Session 2: How Do We Remain Grounded and Connected?

Podcast episode: Turning Deserts to Gardens with Dr. Lyla June Johnston
Together, we will explore what helps us remain grounded and connected in the midst of uncertainty and chaos. The featured podcast episode is a conversation with Dr. Lyla June Johnston, an Indigenous scholar, musician, poet, educator, and community leader whose work draws on Indigenous knowledge and a deep understanding of connection, belonging, and our relationship with one another and the natural world.

Session 3: How Do We Rebuild?

Podcast episode: Politics, Caregiving and Partnership with Ron Kim

Together, we will explore how care, dignity, and shared responsibility can help strengthen and renew our communities, organizations, and systems—and what role each of us can play in helping create something better. The featured podcast episode is a conversation with Ron Kim, a New York Assemblyman who is working to bring greater attention to care, caregiving, and human well-being in politics and public policy. His work invites us to rethink what we value and how we can create communities and systems that work better for everyone.
